LAETA Young Researchers Meeting counted over 160 participants

The 5th Meeting of LAETA's Young Researchers took place on the 5th and 6th of May, in Lisbon. The event brought together 160 young researchers and scientists.

Over two days, a total of 143 presentations related to LAETA's research areas were made, including Materials and Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Structures and Systems, Energy, Environment and Sustainability, Intelligent Systems and Control and Biomechanics.

One of the main highlights was the award, for the first time, of the Young Researcher Award - Professor Mário Costa, which is a tribute to the professor for his important contributions in the area of ​​combustion.

The winner was Rui Sampaio, from IDMEC - Institute of Mechanical Engineering, with the work «Expanding the fracture limits in bulk metal forming to biaxial tension states».

This meeting, which is in its 5th edition, was born to promote and encourage an interdisciplinary discussion between the different strands of research developed by young researchers at LAETA and its four main member institutions (INEGI - Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, linked to the University of Porto, IDMEC, linked to the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon, ADAI - Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics, linked to the University of Coimbra, and AEROG - Aeronautics and Astronautics Research Center of the University of Beira interior).
