Researcher Afzal Suleman was recognised by Minister of National Defense

Afzal Suleman, researcher from LAETA and from IDMEC - Institute of Mechanical Engineering, was distinguished by his contribution and exemplary commitment to investment and development, representing Portugal in Panel Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) of the Science and Technology Organization (STO) of NATO, for more than 20 years, as a national delegate and investigator.
The honour attributed to this researcher from LAETA is a recognition of his "long and profound course" in "high-impact investment activities, which is a fundamental investment, which is applied, in the area of Computational Mechanics and Experimental Use", as well as, his "extreme dedication of mentoring activities, orienting various assessments, measures and other issues, and leading international investment projects, which demonstrate excellence and professional integrity in NATO's objective/action."
During his professional career, Afzal Suleman has been often awarded at the national and international level, and the quality of his work has been the most recognised in STO / NATO, with the attribution of the Von Karman medal, in 2021, thus becoming the first national citizen to have this distinction.
