Instituto Superior Técnico's Teaching Award goes to LAETA researcher

João Fernandes won one of the two 2023 Técnico Excellence in Teaching Awards, in the category of excellence in the 2nd cycle. This award has existed since 2012 to recognize and encourage pedagogical quality at IST, and is awarded based on student responses to the quality system of curricular units.
The attribution of this prize is based on the responses of students who consider these teachers as deserving of the maximum score (9 on a scale of 1 to 9) in all evaluation criteria, measured by the quality system of curricular units (QUC).
João Fernandes has, since 2016, been developing his research work at research center IDMEC/LAETA in the areas of electrical machines, multi-physic modeling and optimization. His research interests are in the areas of applied electromagnetism and energy conversion and new materials to applied to electric machines. He is also an integrated member of IDMEC and Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico.
