LAETA researcher supervised a master's thesis awarded by REN
News & EventsA master's thesis on hydrogen, authored by Leonardo Fernandes and supervised by Abel Rouboa, a LAETA researcher, won first place in the REN 2024 Award. This award annually recognizes the best dissertations.
Titled "Simulation of flow conditions for natural gas and hydrogen blends for different points of the distribution natural gas network", the thesis developed by Leonardo Fernandes focused on studying the injection of hydrogen into the natural gas network and testing the homogenization of this resource's blend with natural gas using static mixers.
For this study, three analyses were conducted using computational fluid dynamics. It was concluded that the use of static mixers significantly improves the mixing of hydrogen and natural gas.
