LAETA researchers participated in COP28, the 28th United Nations conference on climate change, within the scope of the «Prototypes for Humanity» program.

This participation was due to the project about structural coaxial batteries, an investigation led by Maria Helena Braga. In addition to the researcher, the delegation also included Beatriz Maia, Nuno Guerreiro and Beatriz Gomes. The team had the opportunity to participate in discussion forums with scientists and other personalities related to sustainability.

The «Prototypes for Humanity» program aims to consider, promote and distinguish innovative ideas with the power to change the world. The 2023 edition highlighted 100 projects linked to the five major themes that were part of the COP28 agenda: Nature, Food and Water Systems; Health, Relief and Safety; Energy, Efficiency and Waste; Education, Equality and Communities; and Data Science and AI-Enabled Solutions.
