LAETA`s president publishes a book about underwater photography
News & EventsMany recognize Pedro Camanho's research in composite materials and his contribution to the development of the aeronautical sector, but few know his "side B." LAETA`s president has dedicated himself to underwater photography for around three decades and will publish the book "Sob mares frágeis” with a compilation of several images.
Along with underwater photographs collected over several years, Pedro Camanho also reflects on the degradation of the oceans where he dived.
"There are multiple factors that have contributed to the degradation of the oceans. The seawater temperature, the destruction of habitats, pollution, the introduction of invasive species, and overfishing are some of the factors that I have noticed", says Pedro Camanho.
The book will be launched on July 3rd, at 6 p.m., during the Encontro Ciência 2024, which will take place at Alfândega do Porto.
The book's preface was written by Onésimo Teotónio Almeida, a philosopher and professor at Brown University in the United States of America. The afterword is written by Pedro Rodrigues, professor and vice-rector of the University of Porto.
