Challenge
Molten salt regeneration for carbon capture and utilization
Optimise the molten salt carbon capture and electrochemical transformation technology in order to meet higher sustainability standards
Goal
Accelerating decarbonization by transforming heavy industrial carbon dioxide (CO2) into sustainable carbon nanomaterials and graphite through molten salt carbon capture and electrochemical transformation;Improve the foundational technology by reusing electrolytes through a high-temperature pressure filtration system and salt regeneration;Directly contributing to the circular economy as the process closes economic loops in the critical industry of toxic carbon.
Outcome
Improvement of the Molten Salt Carbon Capture method;Minimize waste in the process, resulting in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
LAETA
Main Contribution:
- Elaboration of a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) with both standard and non-standard equipment;
- Analysis of the automation algorithm and development of the electrical project and component list for the control/data acquisition of the mechanism;
- Selection and acquisition of different components based on specific mechanical and electrical characteristics;
- Assembly of the prototype according to detailed drawings and assembly manual;
- Preliminary testing of the prototype to ensure the functionality of the mechanical systems.
